Welcome to Black Cats & Butterflies, a children's clothing store specializing in beautifully handmade, small-batch and made-to-order clothing and accessories for children. Our journey began with a passion for creating one-of-a-kind pieces that are soft and comfortable, kind on our skin and celebrate individuality.

We are passionate about using sustainably sourced natural fabrics with low impact dyes, that are gentle on our skin and the environment. The clothing industry has become saturated with fast fashion fixes that are made from harmful fabrics and dyes, which have a detrimental impact on our health and wellbeing, as well as Mother Earth. We want to be part of the solution, not the problem, which is why we only make small batches of any item or make-to-order, thereby reducing the amount of products ending up in landfill. We only use OEKO TEX certified fabrics and have a range of items made with Organic fabric also, meaning that not only are they gentler on the environment during production, but when they have finally reached the end of their life (hopefully many many years from now), they will have less of an impact environmentally then too.

We believe in slow fashion, clothing that takes time to make because it is made to last,  clothing that can be hand me downs between friend and family for generations. All of our products have been made with this in mind and we want to encourage the culture of reuse and recycle. So once your child has grown out of it's lovingly made clothing item, we would encourage you to regift it to another child so it can continue to bring joy throughout its life. As we move through the changing seasons and our stock starts to change, if we have anything unsold we will either do a giveaway through our social media platforms or gift items to local charities in the UK.
